How We Work

How ESB Works

ESB operates as an independent assurance function for multi-site hospitality and catering operators. We work alongside your internal teams — not instead of them — to give you a clear, unbiased picture of how standards are being applied across your estate.

Here is what happens when you engage ESB.

Trusted by more than 13,000 operators around the world

The ESB Four-Step Model

Assess
01

We Assess what is Actually Happening

ESB assessors visit your sites and conduct structured operational reviews. These reviews are unannounced or pre-arranged depending on your programme design. We observe how your teams operate under normal working conditions — not how they perform when they know they are being assessed.

We cover food safety, health and safety, fire procedures, contractor management, cleaning standards, and operational consistency. The depth of each review is agreed with you at the start of the engagement.
Interpret
02

We Interpret What the Findings Mean

Raw audit data tells you what happened. ESB tells you what it means. We analyse patterns across sites, identify systemic weaknesses, and separate issues that are isolated from those that are structural.

You receive an interpreted report, not a checklist. The findings are written for operational leaders, not compliance teams. They are clear, direct, and immediately actionable.
Prioritise
03

We Help you Prioritise what to Fix First

Not every finding carries the same weight. ESB grades every issue by severity and by the likely consequence of leaving it unaddressed. You receive a prioritised action list that distinguishes between what needs immediate attention and what can be planned into the next operational cycle.

Where relevant, we cross-reference findings against regulatory standards, insurer requirements, and brand commitments so that prioritisation is commercially grounded, not just operationally logical.
Support
04

We Support the Follow-Through

Identifying gaps is straightforward. Closing them permanently is harder. ESB can provide follow-up visits, targeted coaching for site managers, and progress tracking to confirm that improvements have been embedded rather than simply noted.

Clients who use ESB on a retained basis typically see measurable improvement in inspection outcomes, reduction in repeat findings, and stronger audit trail documentation within the first two programme cycles.
